Junior learn to skate and roller derby - for skaters aged 4 to 17
Junior Skating & Roller Derby is a fun programme where you can learn to skate. Our Junior Skating programme enables children and young people to engage with a non-traditional sport in a fun and non competitive atmosphere. Come check us out! Junior Roller Derby is a fun game to play on skates. Skaters will initially play with the junior level 2 rules which does not allow full contact and requires jammers to slow down when approaching the pack. As skaters get older and more confident they can learn how to play contact with the level 3 ruleset.

Team Zebra (Referee's) and Non-Skating Officials (NSO)
Not into the heavy contact but still want to skate? Or want to help out, but don't want to skate at all? Join the team that never loses! Our sport would be impossible to play if it weren't for our Officials. Anyone over 18 can join as a referee or non-skating official (NSO). We're looking for sharp-eyed folk who can work as part of a facilitating team. Reffing requires quick-thinking and deep knowledge of the rules so we need people who are keen to learn and can put in a bit of time at our practices!
Membership
Club membership enables us to run our Skating Programmes at a low cost and provide opportunities to compete in a variety of different games, competitions and tournaments. Our club is a non-profit society run by a team of volunteers - without membership we would not be able to provide you with the services we do!
Members do not have to enrol in a skating programme. We encourage caregivers who are not skating themselves to become a member and participate in meetings. Your voice is important!
There are many additional benefits to becoming a member:
- Eligibility to represent Ōtautahi Rollers in games and competitions
- Subsidised travel and accommodation costs for selected games and competitions
And for members over age 18
- Ability to attend General Meetings
- Voting rights at General Meetings
- Eligibility to hold an Executive Office.
We have two annual membership options:
- Individual Membership ($25)
This could be for yourself and/or a family member
- Family Membership ($60)
This is ideal if you have 3 or more members in your family who wish to gain the benefits of being a member
